After I do a number of illustrations, which are usually tighter renderings, I need to loosen up my brush
stroke and the best way I have found to do that is to do quick portrait sketches or other freehand studies. Here are a few
along with other more finished works. I generally don't like doing stiff commercial portraits, they only flatter egos and
usually don't capture the real person. I do enjoy doing portraits that are somewhat more creative and designed well. Design,
I feel, is everything and the technique should support it.
